Lorna Sandoval is a David’s Salon pioneer, having been with the company since it started. However, she did not just witness the growth and expansion of the brand – she was an active part of its evolution.
She started as a Junior Stylist in 1985 at the Rever Salon in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Makati. She spent years patiently and humbly honing her skills as a hairdresser, working alongside Mr. David Charlton himself, learning from the best in the field. Her talent, drive, and charm did not go unnoticed. She was personally selected in 1991 by Mr. David to be part of the very first mall-based David’s Salon branch, the SM Megamall branch, as a Senior Stylist. In 1998, she became part of the second SM Megamall branch, and then moved to The Podium when the branch opened in 2002.
In 1995, Ms. Lorna was hand-picked once again by Mr. David, this time to be part of the pioneer batch of instructors in the then newly-established David’s Salon Academy. A TESDA-certified NC2 passer, she has also trained with Toni and Guy Singapore, as well as Vidal Sassoon in Santa Monica, California. In 2011, after 16 years of teaching, she became the head of the Academy.
From her team, Teacher Lorna requires a high level of academic discipline, and implements a forward-thinking curriculum. She seeks to professionalize hairdressing and requires an exemplary level of skill and professionalism from every David’s Salon Academy graduate. However, she does so with humor and wit, and is ready to help any staff and stylist in need.
With her teaching and hairdressing background, she is truly a force to be reckoned with. Yet she remains the funny, gracious, and selfless Ms. Lorna that clientele and colleagues alike have loved through the years.
